Journal Artists

Before you start creating entries it's a good idea to see some work done by Visual Journal artists. You should look at both artists first. Next, decide which one you would like to write about.
Write at least a pargraph response about one of the artist's work. You may talk about their work as a whole or a specific page. Remember to use "artspeak". Talk about color, shape, texture, line, and how the artist used these elements of art to make something interesting.

  3. I enjoyed looking through Teesha Moore's because of the bright colors and creativity she uses in every journal entry. There is so many things going on and i loved how fun everything was. I also noticed how she likes to put faces in her journal and i feel that their was a major emphasis on the eyes because my eyes immediately went to them. I also enjoyed Dan Eldon's journal but felt it had a deeper meaning. The pictures were so interesting and different in every entry.

  4. I love all of Teesha Moores journals, I liked the contrasting bright colors and the way she used photographs in her pieces. The pictues(unicorn/cat) are very intersting Dan Eldons work was very random, I like how he used totally different things and colaged them together. His work was also kind of depressing though

  5. I really enjoyed looking through Teesha Moore's journal. Every inch of every page was used, there was never any white. She used her space well. I liked how she collaged and painted using bright colors. I also liked how she combined her uses of collaging and painting together, sometimes there would be a face from a magazine with a body painted on. I like the words and magazine cutouts she applied to her journals , it made it more abstract and interesting to look at.

  6. I think Teesha Moore's journal is extraordinary. She has a theme that she uses throughout the entire journal - having a single figure in the middle of the page and building around it. I like how she uses vibrant colors and mediums. I also like how she puts a twist on the picture in the center of the page. The way Teesha incorporates words by writing about the significance of her day is amazing. I also enjoy seeing the different style each piece withholds. Overall, Teesha Moore’s journal is my favorite.

  8. While looking through both journals, I liked certain things about both of them. In Teesha Moore's journal, she tended to use magazine clippings, and then create and entry around that image. On a lot of her entries, she would use words to fill in white space, and I thought it looked really cool. In Dan Eldons journal, I enjoyed looking through his entries. Each page was very creative and unique, and I thought it was cool how he used his own pictures, and work around the theme in each picture. I also thought that his collaging work was very interesting too.

  9. i really like Teesha Moores Journals because they were all very interesting to me. I loved that she used a lot of color and she did faces in most of them and they came out really good. I also i really liked how she used lyrics and writing to fill up the pages. Also, each page was different from all the others. I love how she used bright neon colors and it helped make her journal more noticeable.

  11. While i was looking throuh Teesha Moore's journal, i noticed so my different colors in every piece of her work. She created a great vintage look to some of her entries and made it look so interesting to explore. Dan Eldon's journal entries are darker than Teesha Moore's, but each entry was different in his journal although most of his journal was dark and i noticed he loved to use photos from magazines and his own photos.

  12. One of my favorite journal entries was Teesha Moore's page of Albert Einstein. I loved all of her entries because of all the colors, and the different faces on all her pages. Even though the pages shared one basic theme, they were all unique and fun to look at. I love how she used quotes in her entries, and that she made them blend in perfectly with the rest of the page.

  13. Dan Eldon's journal was excellent. All of the entries were vibrant and colorful or simple but unique. I like how the images he used in his many collages had something to do about other cultures. The diversity that he portrays with his journal is cool because on some pages he changes his style a bit to match the culture he is referencing. Lastly I like how he uses his backgrounds. The backgrounds he makes sets a mood for his entry and it turns out amazing.

  17. Teesha Moore uses very vibrant colors in her journal entries. In some of her journals she uses words/lyrics which set the mood of the entry. She uses alot of mediums and creates more than one focal point in most of her journals. In one of her drawings she created a cupcake with a face used as a cherry. In the same picture she used more than one focal point such as a fish and the word cupcake.

  18. Hey its Tyler Blansfield,I really liked Karen Whimsey's altered book, The Astronomer's Apothecary. I found one page really cool, because she cut a square out of the middle of the page, and it looks like she put little jars of sands and rocks. Also, i love all the detail she did. My favorite part is the two stars, the string, and the hole she cut out because it makes a smily face. The backround is also really interesting. I really cant even tell you whats in it because its to busy and i like that.
