Welcome

Welcome to the PJG Studio Art Blog. You will need come here to complete some assignments. Please bookmark this page.

Before you start creating entries it's a good idea to see some work done by Visual Journal artists. You should look at both artists first. Next, decide which one you would like to write about.
Write at least a pargraph response about one of the artist's work. You may talk about their work as a whole or a specific page. Remember to use "artspeak". Talk about color, shape, texture, line, and how the artist used these elements of art to make something interesting. This assignment is due Monday, September 12th

  1. I liked Teesha Moore's journal pages. Her use of colors was just amazing. She shaded, blended and made things pop out. She has so many different shapes which you notice it when you look closely. Her idea of putting quotes in the background made it look like a colorful diary. I also liked how she took different pictures and put them together and made them look complete. She made her artwork look both realistic and also the opposite. When Teesha brought all the colors, shapes, quotes, and her creativity she made her journals look amazing. I hope I can make journals like her.

  2. I liked both artists. Teesha moore's style was using multiple colors and shapes, which caught my eye. i liked how most of her drawings contained characters, words and animals. Her colors were filled with variety but most of the colors used were statement colors (vibrant). Her variety of shapes and colors were used very well, and i like her style. On the other hand, i liked dan eldon's as well. His journals were filled with photographs, well blended colors and shapes. He used words and colors to fill the pages from top to bottom. His drawings also seemed to have texture and definition. They seem to have more of a meaning, or a purpose deep inside the pictures and drawings. I want to use both of their styles in my journal.

  3. I thought that Teesha was very creative in using such random shapes, newspaper looking textures, varying the medium, and using cutouts. Personally though, i really didnt like the feeling the images potrayed. It was an odd color scheme and the randomness of people/creatures gave me an eerie feeling. I didn't really like her use of cutting out heads and pasting them to drawn bodies. I did notice though how fine and detailed her work was; she often used a variety of different textures. In regards to Eldon, I really enjoyed his journal, better than Teeshas. I liked how the journal was like a scrapbook were things were pasted in. The real life pictures mixed with drawn-in doodles really added a cool look. His journal was very realistic and I could relate to the feelings given off in his art about New York. I really liked the one entry on a black background, where the white buildings and people stand out and reach upward; the contrast was really good.

  4. In my opinion, I believe that both of the artists had great journals. Teesha had a continuous pattern of people and animals, but what I liked was that she also used some good use of blending colors, such as red gently going into orange and yellow etc. What I liked about Dan was he had photos surrounded by art and doodles to make it look more exciting. One page that I liked most by Dan was in "Playing". It was the warm colored background and the darker colored picture really grabbed my attention. Overall, i believe they had good things about both of their journals, but Dan had more that I like.

  5. I thought that Teesha was unique artist because I like the way that she used pictures as well as drawings in one artwork. She blended with a lot of colors, and she used so many colors as well. i liked the way that she made it look like that some of the drawing were popping out of the page. she also used words in almost every piece of art work. she used great variation of ideas incorporated in her work. Her art gave off a weird feeling. Some of her art work kinda creeps me out, by the way she uses these weird abstract faces.it also creped me out by she always used pictures for faces, and she drew the bodies. I liked the way that she used many shapes and sizes. there were many of textures in her art work. Joshua B. Period 6

  6. I wasn't able to veiw Dan Eldon's art, but Teesha's worked. I really liked the use of the vibrant color's, I felt drawn to all of the entry's; it was hard to find just one thing that cought my eye more than the others. I found a few, but ended up clicking on all of them... I also could see that she enjoyed having one eye bigger than the other in most of her drawings, and I think it's because it makes it look 'imperfect.' In some of her drawings', she wrote "Live life by my gut" and "Never give up" also- "trust yourself." I love how she adds possitive messages into her drawings, and how in some she simply has random ones'. I can also see that she puts a lot of emotions' into her drawings, and through her messages. Even though the colors' are vibrant, there is tons' of contrast. Some colors shine brighter than others, and there's some cool/dark colors' put down to make the warm/bright ones' brighter. She also has a habbit of adding pointy hats- I was wondering wheather(sp?) or not she wanted them to be either 'dunce' hats', or 'party' hats'. Maybe they were just 'hats'- whatever the reason, they were a nice add. I can see she has a really cool style, and uses different mediums', but usually sticks with a only a few in each drawing. The font is ridiculously awesome, and I want to know if she uses any tools' or she just draws it in herself. I'm hoping to take a few examples to use during my journal process- she really does seem amazing.

  7. I thought Teesha's work was done very well. I like the repetition of warm colors in most of her journals and the kooky designs she drew as humans, cats, etc. I have noticed that in almost every journal there is a center object she either pasted on the paper or sketched, which draws the eye. Some center objects are black and white, which portrays contrast and makes the art interesting. Her use of blending colors such as oranges and yellows into greens and blues stood out to me. So did her use of words that scattered many pages of her journal! She also created drawings that looked realistic but added abnormal features to it. I also enjoyed Dan’s work. The colors he used were darker and dull, not as vibrant as Teesha’s but it did show the difference of theme and personality. It looked like he used more photography than drawing and cut out some newspaper articles/photographs and pasted them on his pages. He used contrast just like Teesha, using black and white or neutral colors against more a colorful background. Both artists are unique and the work they created illustrates their differences.

  8. Both artists had interesting journals. What really stood out to me was Teesha Moore’s artistic style. I really liked how she used colors in her artwork. The contrast, blending and color scheme were all very unique. In addition, I highly admired how she made some objects look three dimensional in some pictures and made objects pop in other pictures. What was really creative was that she used real pictures in her art, as well as quotes. I feel as if she does this to tell a story. She is great at using her imagination to come up with anything unordinary that she wants. She puts a lot of detail into the people in her artwork, which is very eye-catching and essential. The ideas she used were definitely out of the ordinary. Teesha Moore really knows how to produce her own distinctive amazing artwork!

  9. Both artists had very contrasting artistic ideas. Keesha Moore used a lot of intricate designs and warm color use. She used different shapes and put a plethora of effort into all of the journal entries. Comparing Teesh's art to my experience in China, her work has a very "Asian" feel to it. Her use of delicate and difficult design in texture is outstanding. The complexity of her work is amazing, especially the tedious scriptures on almost all of her entries. I like her sense of shape and flow in her drawings and also the elements of people in her art. Her art work looks a lot more time consuming than Dan Eldon'd does. She expresses her character in her journal, and i admire the playfulness she uses. I appreciate the hidden message each entry prevails to the viewer, a lot of them are about character building and determination, which i like. Teesha's is more out of the ordinary and had personality which all art work should have!

  10. Out of the two artisits I like Teesha Moore's work the best. Her use of vivid colors in every piece stood out to me. She uses contrasting colors to focus on the center of her paintings. I also enjoyed how in some pieces she put a border around the center object. Her artwork is very unique. The colors she uses are bright pastels, usually a form of pink. She places a central object in her picture, and surrounds it with words or other geometric forms: like circles or curliques. Most often the object is a female character or an animal figure. The artwork is fantasy-like and pleasant, almost like a children's story. Sometimes it feels like an old-fashioned advertisement for a product, The feeling her artwork gives is pleasant and dream-like.
It is intersting, and makes me want to see more of her work.

  11. I preferred Teesha Moore’s artwork. I thought it was beautiful how she mixed a variety of cultures into her drawings. Her use of asymmetrical facial features, pops of color and complimenting textures really stood out from Eldon’s work. Her art had a vintage feel to it, while “breaking the rules” from typical vintage drawings and paintings with bold brights and quirky main focuses in each art piece. Her mix of photographs, cut-outs, and her own colorful additions makes her art her own. Her motivational quotes that are included in some of her pieces gave purpose to it. Unique imperfections truly gave creativity to her art. Her art inspires me for ideas and examples to make my artwork more distinctive among the rest.

  12. I liked Teesha's journal art much better for a few reasons. I like how she incorporated words and with pictures at the same time. She didn't just stick to one type of art but multiple at once. I liked the repetition of faces in almost every page. I loved how much color she used. The colors were very bright and out there. I also like the cut outs put into the pictures. I didn't like Dan's art as much because although it was different, it was just bland to me.
