  2. Teesha Moore creates visual journals consisting of unsual yet creative collaged pages. I admire her use of a strong focal point on the majority of her pages, many of which are faces. In addition, I like her use of vibrant colors that make the pages come to life. It is evident that she uses pens over her painted and collaged pieces and I find that interesting. Although her pages are overwhelmed with different shapes, patterns, and ideas, Teesha Moore arranges them incredibly and with a fine eye for detail.

  3. I happen to like Teesha Moore's journal better than Dan Eldon's journal because I like the wide range of colors, especially warm, vibrant, and bright colors Moore puts in her pages. She chooses contrasting colors of pink, lime green, orange, and sky blue, often outlined by a dark brown or black. I also like the shape utilized in each of her pages. The size of the faces or other objects are used to emphasize her ideas. The sizes in relationship to other objects on a page are usually quite different. For instance, there may be one big object and the rest are relatively smaller. The texture is smooth. Her line always changes. Sometimes it curves and ends in a swirl, and sometimes the line is slightly slanted, diagonal, or straight. The object of the art is set in a geographic background which ignores real perspectives. In terms of value, Teesha mainly focuses on the lightness of a color. There is asymmetrical balance. All of these elements and principles of art combine to form interesting images.

  4. Dan Eldon has a very unique art style. His art style is incredibly interesting. In most of his pieces, he focuses his art around one color. And there is usually only one or two colors in the whole piece. Also, he uses a lot of bland colors, he doesn't usually use bright colors. In Dan's art, he uses lots of curves and flowing shapes. Also, Dan doesn't usually have a focus point in his art.

  5. The Artist that I chose was Teesha Moore. I chose her because of her work’s originality. There are various things that I like about this artist’s work. Her pieces have good color and texture contrast. The majority of her works has a very vivid coloring that makes for an exciting page, but there are also calmer, and sometimes even more somber, pages that can balance out her journal so that the majority of brightness doesn’t become boring or an eyesore. Moore used a huge variety of shapes, ranging from organic to stiffly straight. It ensured that none of her pieces were boring to look at, and so that her pages weren’t similar, unless there was a reason. I really liked how she used various textures, and always at her advantage. She used a variety of textures; the most striking was the cutouts of whole human figures, the people were often the emphasis of her work as well. There are many instances in which I couldn’t find a line in the picture, but it was always balanced well in all other aspects, so I didn’t mind since I didn’t believe that line was important. It was connected in other was like texture. My favorite aspect of her art was the use of text as it always made for good texture and was perfectly incorporated in the art; often times canceling negative space and tying things together. The color, shape, texture, and line were always used to make her art unique and interesting, which is why I chose this artist to write about.

  6. the artist i choose is Teesha Moore. there's lots of things that captured my attention about her work. not one of her pages seemed boring to me. she added tons of different styles/shapes to each and every one of her pages which makes each page stand out. she also used bright and dark colors. to make a welll balanced journal, moore even added some "dark" or "not so fun" filled pages which makes those pages stand out even more from the rest because they are so unexpected. she seemed to like to draw/create/paste people in her artwork as well which also stood out the most was her choise in faces and emotions on thier faces. i find that the line is changing. you can't quite find one always. it comes at random. all of the principals and elements come together to make exquisite apealing images throughout her pages.

  7. The artist I choose to write about is Teesha Moore. I chose her because her art is very interesting to look at. Not only is her art interesting with its bright contrasting colors, but the way she weaves words into her work is intriguing. I like art that involves words because it triggers more emotion and causes you to think deeper about the piece. Another reason I like this artist’s work is because she uses many textures. By using different textures, for instance magazine cut outs, she forms a focal point in her art. A final reason I like this artist’s work is because almost all of her drawings have people’s faces in them. Art that involves people is very intriguing because people are one of the most interesting things to look at.

  9. i like Teesha Moore's artwork more than Dan Eldon'artwork. because i like the design of her work. The colors that she choice for her artwork are really bright, and the shape are really creative. All the page are really intersting. Also, in her artwork, is really easy to know what she wants to show. The topic just pop into your eyes. Her artwork doesnt really have empty space. Those are the reasons, that make me like her work.

  10. The visual journal artist that I chose was Teesha Moore. I chose her over Dan Elden because I consider her a very unique artist. I initially was going to choose Elden because Moore is somewhat violently bright, but in the end Elden wasn't that enjoyable.
The first element that I enjoyed about Moore's work was that the majority of her works included some form of a message. Often these messages appear separated from the pictures at first, but when you study the image long enough the message appears in the art as well. Art for art itself often seems pointless to me, Moore goes beyond that.
Another element that I enjoy about Moore's work is that she shows a large variety with her works. She favors faces, but she also uses a large variety of colors and objects in her journals. It is true that her art is somewhat explosive with how much color they have, but she also has some dark work. The final element that I enjoy is her obvious pride in her work. Everything received the same care, and that matters. Teesha Moore brings together all of these elements in her work to make it enjoyable to look at and study.

  11. Teesha Moore is an incredible inspiring artist. The way she collages and uses pops of contrasting color makes her pages very interesting to look at. I like how she doesn’t just use one medium to work with, but instead uses many different materials to bring the page to life. You can tell that each page has its own unique story and emotion behind it. I also like how she uses letters, words, and real people in her pages. I am very inspired by her work.

  12. I have decided to study the work of Teesha Moore and her journal pages. The first thing i found very interesting was the bright colors she used. They seemed to pop out everywhere and make the pages really appealing to look at. Also her use of words caused a sense connection to the pieces and really makes her work fascinating. Additionally, Moore used lots of different shapes throughout her work and it made the work very intriguing. Lastly, Moore also used texture very creatively. She layered and overlapped things on the page, making the pages really interesting to look at. Overall, Teesha Moore used many elements of art in her journal pages to make them very interesting.

  13. The artist I choose was Dan Eldon. I found his work memorizing because of the collages. His art consists of one (or more) focal point that immediately grabs your attention. When I first saw his work, the overlapping of the collage was so diffent from any other artist's work I've seen before. I also like the repition of certain pictures. My favorite collage was the one with the face of a girl that is both painted repeatedly and mized with actual photographs of her. The colors he uses usally balance each other out. He emphasizes the cool vs. warm colors which I find fascinating! He also uses bright and vibrant colors. Also from looking at his work he expresses himself from a use of patterns both organic and geometeric. I noticed he also likes to use peoples faces and then portray a certain meaning with picture. I found his work different and unique and abosolutely intriguing.

  14. I like the work of artist Teesha Moore, because I feel there are very rich colors in her paintings. Her paintings, each one, have a unique style. The most important point in her work is that each painting and text is a perfect combination. Her very distinctive colors in her work, gives a feeling of bright spots and fun. I think her work is very vivid, exaggerated and abstract, so I like this work very much.

  15. The artist I prefer more is Teesha Moore. She uses interesting color pallets for her works and I think all the bright pop-out of color is more fun to look at than Dan Eldons . Teesha always has words somewhere and I find reading them to be enjoyable because they have unique themes in them. Also, the shapes on the pages are bold and she uses a lot of swirls and circles, which accent the focal point nicely. Another thing about her focal points is that they are loud and hold a lot of character. She brings a lot of things to look at in her art, things varying from doll faces to nature and that I what I like most about this artist.

  17. Teesha Moore's visual journals have a surreal, unearthly feel to them. Each page is unique, unexpected, and intriguing to look at. I think it's cute how she uses the background as a diary and because of this, many pages give you a glimpse into her life. Teesha often uses organic shapes and patterns. Her work shows good contrast, for example there are organic focus points against a blocky background, and dark, cool-colored focus points against a bright, warm-colored background. I like her use of bold, vivid colors and her extensive variety of textures and collage elements. She incorporates faces in a lot of her work, and the way she manipulates them make her artwork freakily interesting. The aspect of Teesha's work that I found the most mesmerizing was that some pages looked carefree and happy at first, but seemed to convey a deeper, sadder meaning. I greatly admire her work and I think that Teesha Moore is absolutely original.

  18. The artwork style that Teesha moore has is unique with incredible detail. Each individual picture conveys its own mood by the use different colors and many different organic shapes. Every picture had a strong, vibrant focal point that usually consists of faces, But each face is completely different from the others by using extreme amounts of detail. The use of words in the pictures are the leading lines that draw your eye to the focal point. Teesha brings her pictures to life by incorporating a unique story into each one. Her art is interesting to look at and I appreciate the great amount of detail she put into them.

  19. I chose Dan Eldon's work to examine as I found it an extremely poignant portrayal of the sights and emotions he has experienced. Each of his journal pages demonstrates unity, whether with a repeated figure or similarly constructed panels. Also, they have interesting focal points set apart from the rest of the page by contrasting color, size, or medium. His use of collage is also fascinating, mixing black and white photographs with splashes of deep color that make the pages very interesting to the eye. This is a moving journal with more than first meets the eye.

  20. I chose Teesha Moore's journal work to comment on especially because of the fact that she uses words to tie her entries together. I enjoy using song lyrics and poems as inspiration for my own art. I find her collage. words and pop of color trio very appealing. The fact that she has a single focal point in each entry helps to soften the otherwise "screaming" backgrounds that would be almost too busy to look at and enjoy. Teesha's choice of contrasting colors forces the viewing eye to jump to her pages of art.

  21. Teesha Moore’ sketchbook pages are very visually pleasing because of the techniques she used. I like how she used elements of contrast to make her focal point and art work interesting. What’s really unique about them is that sometimes while the focal point is usually black and white photo or something of a neutral color, the background is very vibrantly colored. I also like that sometimes her backgrounds consists of words and swirly patterns. Her artwork is very abstract, with drawings and photographs mixed together in unusual, organic shapes. She is always very good at using up all the space on the page; the pages of her sketch book are all full of so many things to look at. A lot of her pages have mostly warm colors, but one I like in particular is one that has mostly cool colors. The page has a photo of a girl’s face at the bottom of the page and on it Teesha has drawn a couple of buildings, shapes, and longer eyelashes. There is also a message in the background, “When I am gone please don’t cry for me as I will be home with the angels”. There is also a border made of black and white and sepia photos of street signs and numbers, sequence, and light bulbs. Something great about the photo is that all of these images are connected somehow and I think one way they are visually connected is by the continued theme of circular shapes and bubble- like doodles. I really just like this sketch and the rest of her drawings in the book and found her book helpful, in particular, as guide for management of space on the page.

  22. In the case of Dan Eldon, I like the vintage earthy feel he has in his pages. You can see that there's a lot of repetition with the shapes and that he really plays around with the object at hand. In several cases you'd be able to see an object decorate the entire page; Smaller, bigger, rotated, and sometimes overlapping. I like how the tones and colors he uses are rather subtle and yet it feels that some of the pages scream at you. I like the different patterns he uses to adorn his pages with, it makes the page interesting and unique. I love his mixture of different mediums in his pages, the usage of vintage photographs, comic book pages, water color, paint, and etc. I like how all the pages are different, with some slight similarities that unifies it as a whole.

  23. I chose Dan Eldon's second entry in the New York Book. This entry incorporates many visually pleasing techniques such as unity throughout the image, color contrast, and grouping of like objects. He gives a strong focal point in the organic shaping of the white figures, while still creating unity and motion with the use of pale greenish-gray lines. The middle-ground buildings use greenish yellow as well as reds and browns, which give the color contrast needed to make the white people stand out. Eldon used blending of unlike colors in his middle ground elements to make them stand out from the blue blocks in the background and the long organic forms in the foreground. By grouping each element with like objects, Dan Eldon created a sense of one being stranded in the image, even with the way the colors are lending cohesion to the work. There is also repetition throughout the work, in that he really used only three different ideas for the middle, back, and foreground, as well as through his earthy color palette.

  25. The artist I chose to write about is Teesha Moore. The reason I chose her is because her artwork uses many eye-catching colors and a lot of words, both as whisper and sometimes speak elements. I also really like the way she uses faces in her sketchbook pages, and sometimes draws on them or adds different kinds of things like ornaments or accenting a certain part of the face to make it look interesting. Her pages are very detailed, filling up every part of the paper and giving the viewer a lot of things to examine. I also like her drawing style, and the way she collages in a lot of her pages, adding an element of texture. A page that particularly appealed to me depicted a girl, looking out into the distance with her face propped up on her palm. The page had a very bright greenish blue background, and half the page was filled with black words, and half in white, with the words insanely crazy standing out the most. Three things that intrigued me in this page were how she decorated the girl, adding black to her hair, and a crown shaped thing over her eyebrows. Also, the words that she used were not lyrics, but her thoughts, or a descripting of an event. The border of pictures on the side seemed to describe, in a way, what the words were saying.

  26. The artist I choose is Teesha Moore. I find her work in her journal interesting because of her use of words and newspaper as background, as well as, the bold colors that are frequently present in her art. Her pages are filled with anything and everything and she uses many different medias. I really enjoy her use of quotes and phrases, throughout her journal. The phrases she uses are sometimes just whispers on the page or the focal point, because of a specific font she used or color that contrasts with the background of the journal entry. A specific entry that caught my eye was one with face being held by hands. Around the face and hands is a diary entry, that is used as a background. There is what seems to be comic book or magazine pages used as a border. I was drawn to this page because of the bright colors in the background and the unique look of the face being cupped by hands.

  27. Th artist that I chose was Teesha Moore. This is because I love the way she uses faces as her focal point. They make for a strong piece of artwork. I also like how she has words in the background. It brings the drawing together. Her whole journal is unique because no one can copy a face. The feeling created by this is mystery and eccentricity. The bright colors that pop balance with the black and white faces. Yet, the focal point still stands out which makes this journal truly amazing.

  28. Out of both of the two artist i favored Teesha Moore's artwork. I though her art had a unique feel to it and she mainly focused on drawing people as her center piece and that really caught my eye. When drawing the people she always used rule of thirds and theres was alot of contrast to the rest of the page. Teesha did a good job using the whole page and every page had balance throughout it. I liked Teesha work better than Dan Eldon's because i felt like his was very borring because he used alot of repition throughout the journal. so over all i favored Teesha Moore's artwork over Dan Eldons.

  29. i liked teesha moore's journal better. i liked her journal better because i thought it was more visually interesting to look at. her journals were all very colorful and had almost no empty white space. i also noticed that a lot of her pages had people or faces which i think is a good focal point. she also used a lot of warm colors in almost all of her pages, i think that warm colors pop more and make the focal point easier to see. most of her journals also had words throughout the page or as the background and i think that writing words or using newspaper also makes the focal point pop more.

  30. Teesha Moore’s work favors warm, saturated colors, with the occasional muted sepia. Moore experiments with texture and combines her own drawings with pieces of magazine photographs and text. Commonly, photographs of female faces and figures are the focal points of her work. She decorates and deconstructs them in styles reminiscent of haute couture or a children’s book; many sport exotic hats, crowns or face paint, and magazine models are transformed into royalty, religious icons or whimsical monsters. Text is an important element of her work, sometimes being recordings of her day, written quotes, or clippings from newspapers and magazines. Her composition is tightly-packed, eschewing empty space and isolated focal points in favor of layering elements around a larger, often central focal point.

Thematically, her work seems preoccupied with cutesy and whimsical aesthetics. Nothing subverts or unsettles; even her alterations to pictures of women serve to make them safer and more whimsical rather than unnerve and challenge the viewer. While visually attractive, it is unsatisfying on some other levels.

Hello Mr. Sacco! I tried to post my comment today, but it doesn't seem to be working. This is what I wrote just in case you can't see it.

Teesha Moore has a journal that is packed with color and words, which attracted my attention more than the work of Dan Eldon (Also Dan’s link would really open on my computer...) Each of Teesha’s pages has its own obvious focal point, and she is able to fill the rest of the page in a very interesting way without taking away from that focal point. In most cases, her focal point is large and centered. Also, she uses a color that contrasts with the background, such as blue against pink. She does an excellent job of bringing the piece together by surrounding the center point with words, or by repeating a color or pattern throughout the page. She also emphasizes using value, or shading with another color around it to make it pop. Overall, Teesha’s work is very bright and eye catching, and it appeals to me more than Dan’s art.

    Thanks, Caroline Bosch

  32. Looking through Teesha Moore’s journal pages, some of the first things that really caught my eyes were the vibrant colors, faces, and use/repetition of words. I found it interesting to read the messages strewn about in each individual work of art and enjoyed the contrast between warm and cool colors that made certain objects stand out from others. While each page has its own original idea, there is a unifying theme to them that makes looking at all the pages as a whole just as enjoyable as looking at each page individually. Another interesting characteristic of her journal was the alteration of the figures so that, for example, the face appeared more cutesy, or say grotesque/monstrous.

  33. Teesha Moore journal was very interesting due to its unique art style and different color
patterns.she seemed to like using distorted forms of the human figure to create a slightly scary and different figure that still retained some relateability and familiarity. she also used text to point the eye in different directions, id say it was more interesting than dans art in my opnion. 34. Both artists had very good visual journals. Teesha Moore used a lot of different designs compared to Eldon. It seemed as if he would just cut out pictures and glue them on the pages and paint over them. Teesha used a lot of contrast between warm and cool colors. Her use of different art mediums is astonishing. I liked her use of portraits and different shapes in each entry. She had a main focal point on each page (usually a picture of a person).

  35. I chose Teesha's journal pages for a number of reasons. Her work is visually interesting. She uses a strong focal point usually a face and many middle ground and background elements. She uses words frequently, and in addition to adding interest to the page, she uses themas leading lines drawing the eye to the focal point. she uses many textures, colors and mediums to further enhance the work and create contrast between the various elements. Her work is very abstract and unique which made it really interesting to look at her pages. She often has a theme that is supported by the words and collage elements on the page to unify her work.
