Welcome to the PJG Studio Art Blog. You will need come here to complete some assignments. Please bookmark this page.

Before you start creating entries it's a good idea to see some work done by Visual Journal artists. You should look at both artists first. Next, decide which one you would like to write about.
Write at least a pargraph response about one of the artist's work. You may talk about their work as a whole or a specific page. Remember to use "artspeak". Talk about color, shape, texture, line, and how the artist used these elements of art to make something interesting. This assignment is due Monday, Sept. 8th

  1. I like Teesha Moore's journal page "Eye Believe" because the eye really catches my attention. It makes me believe that the artist and i are some what alike because the picture tells me that she wonders about a lot of things. I tend to over analyze things and think about the decisions i make carefully and that is what i think she does too. It also shows the beauty behind the mind and the eye and how they both make us wonder. I really liked the flower under the eye because it gives the picture sort of a lively feeling and really makes the picture stand out along with the eye. I believe above the eye is a flower, but it is supposed to represent the mind, because to me the eye really connects me to my mind and how we sometimes believe what we see even though it may not be true. The picture makes me really wonder about myself and i feel like it sort of connects me and the artist.

  2. I enjoyed the 2 seahorses journal page created by Teesha Moore. As scrolling through Teesha's art work this piece caught my eye. I like how the water at the bottom adds affect to the overall artwork. What i also enjoyed about this piece is the color scheme. The colors chosen for the piece really blend and compliment each other.

  3. I like Dan Eldon's artwork more because i liked the way he incorporates the photos and even cartoon characters like superman shown in his first journal entry. On this journal entry Dan also makes sure to leave very little white space. He fills the background using what looks to be animal skulls along with water color paint mixed around.

  4. I liked Teesha Moore's "The Universe" artwork because there is so many things going on and all the bright colors stand out when you look at it. The shapes in it make it look like things floating in mid air. Teesha left no white space and the shapes lead you around the painting.

  5. I liked the journal page 'The Self' by Teesha Moore because it really makes you think about your self. It shows that everyone Is unique and different in their own way. I also liked how she used repetition of colors throughout the drawing. The orange she used made the artwork bright and standout. I also liked all the different shapes and objects she drew, and how It really gave the artwork a feel to it.

  6. I like Teesha Moore's picture "Imaginary Begins" with the eye in the middle and the zebra with a human head with wings because it fascinated me the most. To me this painting never had a dull moment. There are so many different symbols, patterns, designs, and ideas that fill up the picture. I loved the way she had a quote from Albert Einstein across the whole painting.

  8. I loved Teesha Moore’s journal page 2 seahorses because of how she connects all of the various artwork in the journal. The seahorses are drawn directly above the water which compliments the overall journal page nicely. I enjoyed the contrast in color between blue, beige, and black. The blue stood out from the other less eye-popping colors. I also liked how the shapes are mainly round or curved connecting the whole page. Teesha Moore even wrote “everything is connected” which emphasizes this wavy component. Each part of the journal page leads the eye to another section continuing the overall connection of the piece.

  9. i really like how teesha moore's piece The Universe, because it shows various objects that revolve around us like atoms, the ocean and all of its sea life. I think the focal point in the drawing was the black and white target and the shell above it because thats the one thing that stands out the most, because the target is the only black and white object in the picture. I think she had done a really cool job of shading the shells in different ways and also by putting in some magazine cut outs in it too, to have more of a realistic relationship to the other things in the picture.

  10. Out of all the pages I looked at, Teesha Moore’s “Red Robin” Journal entry stood out to me. Moore filled the entire page with patterns and texture, leaving no empty space. She used a wide variety of shapes on the sides of the page to make it interesting to look at. The designs on the sides look like they frame the robin in the middle. The red robin at the center of the page contrasted with the cool colors in the background, making it the focal point of the picture. Teesha Moore even added a sweet anecdote in the background about her own experience with a robin. The intricate and elaborate designs filing Teesha Moore’s journal page, along with the beautiful red robin, made it something that I really enjoyed.

  11. I like Teesha Moore's journal page "Turnip". I really like the calligraphy work and how the focal point is one big object. I also like how the rest of the drawing is radiating from the radish with bright colors. The yellow border is cool because its curly at the bottom, but it continues up the sides with little yellow dots and vertical lines at the top. It frames the radish really well and it adds more focus to the center, but it is also just as interesting as the radish itself. I love the little added touch of a postage stamp at the top right corner as if it was a letter.

  12. I really like Teesha Moore's "Red Robin" journal page. The contrasting light and dark colors against the blue background really stood out as I was scrolling through her artwork. I like that she added fine details using dots on the leaves, on the robin, and all over the journal page she filled up empty dull spaces with dots in some way. Teesha Moore drew abstract flowers which I thought was pretty cool. I also liked Teesha Moore's idea of writing about how she was inspired to create "Red Robin" in "Red Robin".

  13. My favorite visual journal page is 'Land of Magic' by Teesha Moore. This page has a background of handwriting. The writing on the left of the page is what one might record in a "regular" journal; she discusses the weather, what she worked on, and how it made her feel. The writing on the right side of the page is more personal as she talks about her future plans and how she becomes very immersed in her work, to the point that it can negatively affect other parts of her life. I relate to these words because I spend more time on the assignments from classes I love and procrastinate on the others. I might need more balance, but as Moore writes in the journal, "I am okay the way I am."

The bottom half of the journal page contains five hills. On the hill closest to the viewer, there is a girl walking with a determined look on her face. To me, the girl is a representation of working to reach a goal. Three of the other hills each have a tree on them. The hills and trees frame the girl and make her the focal point of the page. In addition, the many vertical lines on the page emphasize how small the girl is. The hills have brighter colors and more complex shapes and textures in their designs than the text behind them. The realistic texture of the trunks of the trees gives the page a sense of reality. In short, many unique elements of ‘Land of Magic’ make this page my favorite.

  14. I liked Teesha Moore's journal page "Intuition" the one with the eye in the middle of the page and all the colorful shapes and objects in the background. The artwork stands out to me because how much repetition Teesha Moore used with all the bright colors that blended in to make the eye stand out and unique. This picture interested me because it made me think about why she mad this and does it mean something important to her. This was my favorite Journal page that Teesha Moore made.

  15. I really like Teesha Moore's "Tree of Color" journal page because I like her interpretation of a tree of color; normally when you think about a tree of color it would be green, yellow, orange, or red. The background picture of plain trees she put behind the tree of color makes it stand out even more. I also like that Teesha Moore included writing about her thoughts apart of her journal page.

  16. my favorite visual journal page is "Tree of Life" by Teesha Moore. i really liked the color scheme because it caught my eye as i was scrolling through and the journals. i also realized there a bit of an illusion because it make its look like the center (the tree) has a line of symmetry, but really as you look closer there isnt any at all. i also realized theres a little message that says "the tree holds the key" i suppose that means without the tree everything would look so dead and not colorful. there is an eye towards the top of the tree which probably means it watching over everything and everybody making sure things go smoothly. after i finally thought through what all these little touches really mean, it made me enjoy this journal page a lot more

  17. The journal page I liked the most was one of Teesha Moore’s entitled, “Red Mushroom.” The journal page is made up of mostly warm colors with the occasional blue that is a striking and intriguing contrast against the reds and oranges. Scattered across the page are different eyes, which connect the picture together. The shape of a circle is repeated throughout, which as well connects the journal page. The main focus of the picture is the two red mushrooms, thus giving the title, “Red Mushroom.” Mushrooms have been known to give hallucinations if eaten. I feel like this page is one big hallucination because of all strange shapes mixed in with normal things like the owl in the lower right-hand corner and the eyeballs. This fact also relates to the quote written in the center. The quote talks about how your imagination takes over any other will you have, which relates to being in a hallucination because your imagination in that moment is controlling you. The flow of the shapes and brilliant colors made this journal page one of my favorites. –Antonella Jones

  19. Out of all the journal pages by Teesha Moore I really liked 'We Are Powerful'. I really like this one because of the fact that there's a woman in a superhero costume instead of a man. Which is sending the message of girl power, women are powerful in their own way and are equal to men. I also like all of the reds and oranges and similar shapes she has, it reminds me of fire which ties into the whole women being powerful, because fire is a very powerful thing.

  21. Overall, I loved Dan Eldon's style of art. I thought it was very interesting how he incorporated already existing pictures into his own artwork. I especially liked how many of the images in his collages were vintage inspired. I also found it very interesting how he was able to include the characters and figures from pictures and magazine cut outs, in to pieces of his own drawings, while still making them look like they belonged together in the same piece of work. I felt like every page of Eldon's journals told a different story and there was always somewhere to look. I really enjoyed the combination of mediums throughout his journals, and I found his work to be very inspiring.

  22. The journal entry that particularly caught my eye while scrolling through the website was titled, "Intuition," by Teesha Moore. I enjoyed this piece of artwork because it focused mainly on the eye that was painted in the center of the pic and a was symmetrically surrounded by many colorful patterns and words. The shape around the eye created look of a flower and contained various warm and cool colors combined. This effect gave the sketch a colorful floral theme and looked as if the eye was blooming. The words also surrounding the blooming eye become part of the picture and illustrate why she drew it in the first place. Moore's sketchbook entry was created in order to show what she perceives to be her intuition or feelings inside.

  23. I chose to look through Teesha Moore's various journal pages, as I found her abstract style to be very appealing. I enjoy how some pages are very meaningful, while other pages, such as a unicorn with a human head, have no rhyme or reason, but is just as creative. My favorite journal page in particular, however, is the page entitled "today, I'll be happier than a bird with a French fry. This is my favorite page, because I enjoy the blend of warm colors used in the page, as well as the saying "today I'll be happier than a bird with a French fry" is just an interesting saying to use.

  24. I really enjoyed Teesha Moore's art piece Hedgehog. The
colors in the piece complemented each other well and reminded me of the sunset. This also set a calming mood. The hedgehog had really stood out to me as the artist clearly intended to do. It is the main focal point and is created by putting the Hedgehog in the center and making it larger then anything else. One can tell the artist put much work into this piece and did not leave out a detail. This piece is asymmetrical but keeps its balance by having a main color scheme through out as well as constant patterns in various corners of the piece.

  27. After looking through both Dan Eldon and Teesha Moore's journal pages, I decided "two seahorses" by Teesha Moore was my favorite. This is because I love the ocean and feel a real connection with it, and this page has many aquatic elements, like the water at the bottom of the page and the beautiful seahorses (which happen to be one of my favroite animals.) Teesha Moore is very talented and emits both emotion and beauty of the ocean through this page.

  28. Of Teesha Moore and Dan Eldon Journals, I found Dan Eldon's journal "Final Pages" the most interesting. The artist used many different types of media, such as newspapers, pictures, and paintings to convey a common theme on each page. The themes or the pages were very varied, ranging from pictures of american diners to starving children. I think that Dan Eldon made it so his journal made not only a artistic impression, but also a political one. "Final Pages" was a very diverse and interesting sketchbook.
