Welcome

Welcome to the PJG Studio Art Blog. You will need come here to complete some assignments. Please bookmark this page.

Before you start creating entries it's a good idea to see some work done by Visual Journal artists. You should look at both artists first. Next, decide which one you would like to write about.
Write at least a pargraph response about one of the artist's work. You may talk about their work as a whole or a specific page. Remember to use "artspeak". Talk about color, shape, texture, line, and how the artist used these elements of art to make something interesting. This assignment is due Tuesday, Sept. 8th

  1. Out of the work of the two journal artists, I preferred Teesha Moore’s art. First of all, I loved the colors she used in entries like “Tree Love”; the use of warm colors really made the piece stand out. In addition, I thought that the shapes and patterns in entires such as “New Eye Candy” looked spectacular, and really made the pieces look interesting. I especially liked how these shapes often resembled objects, such as shells and coral, but had intricate patterns in or around them. Furthermore, the textures she used in her art made some of it seem more real; for instance, some of the giraffes in the entry titled “Giraffe drawings” looked much more realistic when she paid more attention to the texture of the fur and hair. Another part of her art that stood out to me was how she would combine straight lines, curved lines, thick lines, and thin lines to create detailed patterns; this can be seen in the entry ‘July Journal Pages”, where she put straight, thick lines in the background and thin, curved lines in the front. The lines in the background gave the impression that light was streaming out of the various pictures and shapes, while the complex shapes and patterns she made using thin lines grabbed the viewer’s attention because of how interesting they were. Also, I liked how she would use words and fonts in her journals, and found that along with making the entries look more unique, they often helped reveal what she was trying to express in her art.

  2. Teesha Moore is a very talented journal artist. She uses a lot of different colors, patterns and shapes into her all of her drawings. This artist really pours her soul into every admission. Her artwork really pops and attracts a viewers' eye. Her emotions present themselves in each entry. Teesha has a different style to her art, she likes to incorporate words and pictures. She uses a lot of shading and her lines are all very neat, defined and precise. She also likes to blend her colors which makes her pieces look even more beautiful. She adds many details and thinks out of the box. Teesha Moore truly is magnificent. -Savannah Rutt

  3. On Teesha Moore's "Love" journal entry:
One of my favorite parts of this journal drawing is how "love" is bold and centered in the piece. I also like how the entire piece is black and white; I feel that is simplifies the piece. In my opinion, one of the best components of this piece is the fact that the background isn't plain and there are various drawings and quotes. I chose this journal entry because I liked how from afar it seemed very simple and when you get closer, you can see the complexity of the piece.

  4. I chose the fourth page of Teesha Moore’s journal that she posted on May 16, 2013 under the name “New Stuff Finally!.” I found this very intriguing to look at, as it is primarily made of yellow and other warm colors, but is accented by cool colors such a blue, green, and purple. I also really like the composition of the page. I think that as an artist, words are an important thing to use, but are often forgotten about. However, on this page Teesha Moore uses the quote, “Here I sit all ready and waiting. I’m ready for the next adventure in my cool life. Here we go.” I think this perfectly sums up the idea of Teesha Moore’s art style. Lastly, I thought it was really cool how she made the character wearing a kimono, with a mermaid tail, having a photographed face with a Sharpied cyclops eye, and painted hair in streaks of dots. I love how she embellished the whole piece with dotted lines of paint.

  6. My favorite artwork out of Teesha Moore's journals is "Tree Love". I like it on how the warm colors blend together nicely. She added a pair of white butterfly wings in the center of the blending of warm colors to counter part it, I think it look wonderful like that. The four blue birds at the bottom really stands out. I think those birds has something to do with the title "Tree Love" like one cannot love by its self, creatures need others to love and be loved by. That is probably why there isn't just one bird by its self.

My favorite of these two artists was Teesha Moore. I love how she keeps her pages busy and interesting, with so much to look at on each entry. One of my favorite of hers is a drawing she posted December 4th, which ironically she wrote when she posted it, “One of my favorites”. She used many colors on each page, without the original age showing. I liked her idea of drawing and writing quotes in an interesting way and incorporates it into the picture.

  8. When I first saw Teesha Moore's drawings, I thought, "Wow". Nothing on her blog is really normal. I love how she takes something simple and goes all out with it. I also love how she incorporates words into her drawings. Her drawings are so colorful and fun. She is definitely an interesting artist.

  10. Of the two visual journal artists, I slightly prefer the artwork of Moore over Eldon for various reasons. Her work is evidently laden with detail, while also utilizing a wide array of vibrant colors/tones. Many times, you can associate her journals with aspects of real life, where many could have come from personal notions. In addition to the very expressive images she creates in art, she also incorporates distinct quotes and phrases which help to the interpretation/understanding of her ideas. It is very conspicuous to the viewer that she conveys much emotion and creativity into her work, as each journal displays fascinating images of various objects one may not expect artists to incorporate. This implies that she is a very unique and creative artist who has a distinct perspective on art. I really enjoyed the journal "ponder", as she emphasizes on a word that can be variously defined and creates her own image of the word. She also applies many techniques and styles of patterns to make the picture more appealing and contrasting.

  12. Both of these artists had amazing work, but out of the two, I liked Teesha Moore’s artwork better. The reason that I liked her artwork more was because of the use of vibrant colors in the journals. Her pieces were much more colorful and abstract which is something that appealed to me. I also liked the fact that she used a combination of warm and cool colors to make create balance and make certain details stand out from the rest of the artwork. One of my favorite journal entries of Teesha’s was the one she posted on August 13th, titled 8 new ones, because of the very intricate details she included in it. In all of the pieces in this entry she again used predominantly one hue of colors, whether it was warm or cool, and then accented the piece with the opposite hue of colors. I especially liked the fifth piece in this journal entry with the two seahorses. I loved how she used the complimentary colors of blue and yellow to make details stand out.

  13. When I first saw the work of Teesha Moore I was amazed on how creative and out of the box she thought. I was sadly unable to look at Eldon's work. But Teesha's work showed entries filled with a great variety of color. But the journal that really caught my eye was the piece named “New eye Candy". I adore the abstract that I see. This allows for many different interpretations of it. Although it is one of her least colorful I believe it is one of her most interesting ones. I love how she ties the words “The Universe” into her drawing. Which leads you into seeing even more and interpreting more of this picture.Lastly her color choices are just plain perfect for this journal. But with all of that she applies techniques and patterns to the picture to make it more appealing and pleasing to the eye.

  14. Dan Eldon’s work is very loud visually, and gives a feeling of chaos. He sometimes contrasts black and white photographs with more colorful backgrounds, or vise versa. He also uses repeating images with different emphasis on some aspect of the picture. Using excerpts from already existing texts coupled with photographs is a trend as well. The corresponding pages of the book are almost always connected, either with one image or a theme.

  15. Hallie Wastiewiz (9/7/15) I really liked Dan’s work because of the diverseness of it. He would use so many different types of materials and the no space would be left on the page untouched. From his work you can tell his interests which I really like and there are a lot things that related to Africa and the culture. Being from Kenya, he showed that and with the journal showed his love and respect for it. Without speaking, his journal entry’s spoke a million words, with photographs, some current events occurring at the time spray-paint, etc. In his final pages, he incorporated so many different materials, things you can make up your own story or background from. He often used photographs and did so much with those often. He would paint on the faces, rip the edges, etc. You can tell each and every page held a lot of effort and creativity. It’s sad at the young age of 22, he had a lot more to offer the world. But at least his amazing journals have been shared with the world.

  16. After looking thoroughly through the amazing works of Teesha Moore and Dan Eldon, I was extremely conflicted on which talented artist to write about. Both Dan and Teesha had a many different ways an styles to their journal entries. But both Dan and Teesha have such a talent and knack to capture moments, wether created from their imagination or from interpreting real life things. Teesha's interesting and complex artwork caught my eye due to the vibrant colors and patterns. She has such a way to her art that let's her do whatever she wants with her pieces. She can such a complicated, fun and abstract piece such as "tree love." But she can also get dark and serious, such as "magical life." My favorite piece done by Teesha Moore at this point in time is "new eye candy." The drawing is very detailed and the colors are blend and go together nicely. She has many different visuals when it comes to complimenting colors or choosing colors that go together nicely. I also love how she uses lyrics or quotes, or even just words in her creations. And the fonts are usually different in shape, size and color. It shows how much pride and effort this artist portrays in her work. Teesha Moore has created many masterpieces that inspire people in so many different ways, and I hope she keeps designing many more. - Amelia Shannon

  17. My favorite artist out of the two of them is Teesha Moore. I am a fan of how on one page, she contrasted a neutral brown with white and black, making the white pop against the other colors greatly. I also like how she used shapes to create abstract images in her artwork. The journal is also executed beautifully in where, while the pages do look somewhat alike in some places, none of them look exactly alike, which each page done creatively different. For example, there are some abstract shapes, and then there are regular drawings of humans, and then there is a combination of both. However, my favorite idea that Teesha Moore had to incorporate in her journal is to surround her pages in song lyrics.

  18. I thought that Teesha Moores journal was beautiful and vibrant. I especially loved the neon yellow face with the closed eyes. It had a lot of textures and bright colors. This page was called "incorporating stencils" which I thought was an interesting and unique idea. The blue background against the yellow face really made the face pop with the contrast in colors, and overall the page was very eccentric.

  19. I found Teesha’s Art with the mermaid very popped out, and inspiring. I found it very cool because the mermaid stands out in front of this collaged background with random things that if u look really close it is sea themed too. I like how the collage looks like it had a lot of texture too.
